Commission V - Close-Range Sensing: Analysis and Applications Working Group V / 6 - Medical image analysis, human motion and body measurement |
In 1976, a Working Group of Commission V, named "Biostereometrics", was first established. In 1988, "Medical imaging" was added to the name, and later, in 2000, the name changed to "Medical image analysis and human motion". The current name of the ISPRS Working Group V/6 is "Medical image analysis, human motion and body measurements" in order to reflect the wide range of issues involved in what used to be known as "Medical Photogrammetry" from the beginning of the last century. All these years many efforts have been done to bring together the ever expanding disciplines of Photogrammetry and Computer vision, Digital imaging and Computer graphics, Biomedical and Biomechanical engineering, Medicine, Biometry and Motion analysis. The aim of this WG is to become a "focal point" for all these interested scientists, who believe that this is a truly interesting discipline and a scientifically very rewarding area with a great importance to the progress and well-being of mankind. Our activities focus on providing a platform for the exchange of forefront information, state-of-the-art insights, challenging research activities and results, bridging the gap between the disciplines, and the development of collaboration opportunities. We also aim at developing firm scientific alliances among our members, for the benefit of advancing the scientific issues, which are presented in the Terms-of-References. Along these lines, everyone, seeking co-operation and contribution to this challenging field is welcomed to join us. |
